Iced Tea Quickly!
Of course you can brew tea and simply allow it to cool to room temperature then pour over ice, but let’s assume you came here to read about how to get
ICED TEA QUICKLY!
Are you brewing just one glass for yourself? If so…
- Brew 2 servings of loose leaf (typically 1 tsp/serving but varies with some of our “fluffier” teas) in 8 oz hot water. You could use our IngenuiTea or an infuser in a large mug of hot water.
- After the correct amount of time has elapsed, fill a tall glass with ice and pour hot tea over the ice; stir until chilled; add additional ice if needed.
Are you brewing a pitcher-full for your next brunch or BBQ?
- Brew 8 servings of loose leaf (typically 1 tsp/serving but varies with some of our “fluffier” teas) in 1 quart hot water. I personally use a large stainless infuser meant for cold-brewing coffee (easily available through mass market commerce sites) set in the middle of a 1-quart Pyrex measuring cup.
- Brew for the same amount of time as for a single cup.
- After proper time has elapsed, add the desired amount
of sugar (if any). - Decant the brewed tea into a ½ gallon jar or pitcher;
add 1 quart of ice and stir until ice is melted. Add water
(if needed) to just shy of the ½ gallon mark (allows for
ice melting during service).
