So why hot tea? Tea is full of antioxidants to boost your immune system and fight cellular aging. Most people know that. But did you know that drinking hot tea makes us feel friendlier and more positive. There's a psychological response to filling your belly with warmth - your physical warmth translates into an emotional warmth that allows you to be more open and positive in your thinking.
And why journal? Writing in a journal improves mental health. It allows you to release your thoughts; you process your thoughts more completely as you write (yes, use a pen on paper - typing isn't the same). Writing in a humorous way can alleviate the stress of a bad day or a tough situation. Writing your laments can loosen the tension of sadness as you process grief. If you process positive thoughts about yourself or your situation with written words on paper, you are more likely to come away holding onto those positive thoughts instead of the competing negative ones. Writing can boost your emotional intelligence; when you write honest thoughts about yourself and others and/or about the situations you find yourself in, you can more easily process objectively instead of camping in your emotions.
